Well, this is the end of our second month. Things calmed down a lot since the early third week. Each week since, I learn a little more minutia and the jigsaw puzzle is developing into a picture. I'm still working on consolidating various bits of information that point toward a general billing system. This school office has a complicated system of billing extra-curricular students that attend other schools (or home school), then drop in on one of our late afternoon classes. This requires attendance collection at basketball, badminton, & floorball courts. On Wednesday (with the exception of Grades 3 and below) the whole school attends a popular electronics class in our science classroom. It's popular but tracking the collected money at the gate then paying the programming consultant firm is a supervision nightmare. But these issues are easier to solve than the ones I had to face in the beginning.
The weather these days is dryer, no rain, but still quite humid. When a breeze is felt, the apparent temperature drops 10 degrees. Fortunately, keeping all windows wide open 24 hrs/day and the height of the tenth floor in this apartment complex, keeps an ocean breeze always blowing through.
I'm flat not picking up any Malay! Still working on Admin/Teaching, so no time for anything else. At the school from 7AM to 5:30 or 6PM, eat a few meals, shower and sleep. This is a challenge and it's stingy on personal time. I'm losing sleep in order to type this. 10:30 and bedtime. In two weeks we spend the weekend in Brunei, that's a thumb tack-sized country run by its own Sultan, just 30 minutes flight south along the coast from Kota Kinabalu....our required exit in order to receive another 90-day visa from Malaysia. Originally we planned to fly to Thailand for two weeks, but this will be over the weekend and no missed school. Hee hee, if this is hard to read, you should try typing it!
P.S. No cases of flu on Borneo Island. Our return flight has been canceled so we had to come back 2 days later, now June 2.
